ZOE POWER

Zoe Power’s mural, Our Skyline, infuses colour and curves into Canary Wharf’s angular architecture. Drawing inspiration from the iconic skyline, the River Thames, and the diverse borough, her design features interlocking shapes that symbolise unity and connection.

Zoe aimed to create a piece that not only enhances the urban landscape but also offers moments of reflection and joy to passersby.

Zoe’s work tends to focus on community and people, believing that using public space for the better is exactly what art can do – transforming spaces to bring people together and inspire.

"

I wanted to create a mural that added colour, curves and character to the angular urban landscape... Crisscrossing shapes and colours jostle, embracing each other and creating a sense of unity and representing connection."

JO HICKS

Hixxy’s mural, We’re Not Anybody, Without Everybody Else, delves into themes of memory, connection, and the transient interactions that shape our lives. Utilising drawings and collage, she plays with space and layers, resulting in silhouettes and shadows that evoke fleeting moments and impactful encounters.

The mural's papery textures translate into paint, preserving an imperfect, human quality that resonates with viewers. Hixxy reflected on how we connect, how we interact, and how we navigate through life together – exploring these ideas through her thoughtful, layered approach.

"

I’ve been exploring ideas around memory and connection, fleeting moments and people who impact our lives... The papery qualities of the collage will be translated in the paint work to keep that in perfect and human quality."

VENESSA SCOTT

Venessa Scott’s mural, Neighbourhood, draws inspiration from the concept of a woven tapestry, symbolising the dynamic and interconnected community of Canary Wharf. Her design reflects the area’s diversity and the myriad stories that contribute to its unique identity.

Through her art, Venessa aims to transform public spaces into celebratory and inclusive environments that create a sense of belonging. She suggests that when it comes to painting murals, they don't always have to be large. There’s something incredibly immersive about encountering art in unexpected places on the street – and this mural does just that, inviting passersby to pause and experience it in the heart of the city.

"

My piece is called ‘Neighbourhood’ and draws on the language of a woven cloth tapestry. It speaks of a dynamic space filled with individual threads that are woven together to create a vibrant cultural cloth. That is my experience of Canary Wharf."
